*** What are the benefits of using a tanning lotion? Healthy
skin will tan faster, darker and stay tan longer. Therefore, in order to maximize the results of your tanning session you
must begin by properly taking care of your skin. A salon quality lotion will provide your skin with moisturizers, vitamins,
minerals, anti-oxidants , anti-aging and firming ingredients all designed with the indoor tanner in mind. The right lotion
will improve your results by 30-40%. Don’t waste your time or money tanning with a cheap, ineffective lotion.

Why is it important to use a moisturizer? Tanning dries out the skin and as skin cells die and slough off your tan fades.
By using a moisturizer you can slow down this process and make your tan last longer. When choosing a moisturizer it is important
to use one specifically designed for tanners. Many over-the-counter moisturizers contain SPFs, exfoliants, and/or skin bleachers
or lighteners - these ingredients work against the tanning process. Salon quality tanning moisturizers contain ingredients
that help feed the body’s tanning process even when a person isn’t tanning.
*** How does the skin tan? Tanning
takes place in the skin’s outermost layer, the epidermis which contain cells called melanocytes. When exposed to UVB light,
melanocytes produce melanin. The melanin travels up through the epidermis and is absorbed by other skin cells. When exposed
to UVA light, the melanin oxidizes or darkens, creating a tan.
*** Why does a tan fade? The epidermis replaces
its skin cells every 28-30 days. As the cells migrate to the surface and flake off, a tan will progressively fade without
repeated exposure to UV light.
